AI for Academics Workshop:
Tools to Boost Research and Writing Productivity

Workshop focus

This workshop explores how AI tools, including large language models (LLMs), can revolutionise your academic workflow – from idea generation to final publication.

Participants, whether they are early-career or experienced researchers, will gain insights into the potential benefits and challenges of incorporating AI into their academic practices: 1 - Understand the basics of AI and its current applications in academic research. 2 - Learn how AI can help you generate research ideas, identify gaps in the literature, and plan your research projects. 3. Dive into how AI can assist in analysing complex datasets, making predictions, and extracting meaningful insights. 4 - Discover how AI-powered writing assistants can improve your writing efficiency and quality. 5 - Explore how AI can aid in selecting suitable journals for your work, understanding journal requirements, and navigating the peer review process, as well as assist in responding to reviewer comments and revising manuscripts. 6 - Address the ethical considerations of using AI in research, including issues of bias, transparency, and accountability.

Lecturer: Mgr. Michaela Liegertová, Ph.D.

Michaela Liegertová, Vice-Dean for Development and Quality at the Faculty of Science, University of J.E. Purkyně, is known for her innovative work in integrating AI into research and teaching practices. She founded the "AI Společně" project, a pioneering initiative that promotes collaboration between academics and students on the use of generative AI tools. In recognition of her contributions to AI-powered pedagogy, Michaela received the University Rector's Award in 2023. She continues to empower educators, researchers, and students through her workshops on the effective and ethical use of AI tools.
