with a lot of new challenges and innovations

Dear colleagues,

we are pleased to invite you to the next edition of International Week at the Faculty of Economics, VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic.

In 2010 we started the tradition of “International Week” as an international meeting place in order to inspire and stimulate people from many countries who are working in educational field (economic, business, entrepreneurial, international and similar fields).

Experience a vibrant international atmosphere and seize the opportunity to provide lectures for students, forge new partnerships, and indulge in a captivating array of social activities during our

14th International Week.

Join us at the Faculty of Economics, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava,

from 16th to 20th October 2023.

The primary objective of this programme is to offer our students, both local and international, the opportunity to attend lectures delivered by guest lecturers from our partner institutions. Simultaneously, our goal is to strengthen existing collaborations while fostering the development of new partnerships in teaching, research, and project initiatives in our institutions.

We also warmly invite you to participate in a brand new Erasmus+ programme:

“How to organize BIP - Blended Intensive Programme”  - 5 day training will be organized in parallel with the International Week.

This BIP is designed for teachers as well as for staff from international offices and will be dedicated to Introduction of BIP programmes, designing and administering BIPs at your institutions, and networking with other guests and partners.

Another new part of our IW will be short workshops dedicated to internationalisation and research collaboration.

And, of course, you are invited to a rich social programme including the theatre visit during the International Week.

We really hope you take this great opportunity again to meet colleagues from all over Europe and participate in the International Week in Ostrava.

Funding: There is no conference fee. The international participants will pay their travel expenses, accommodation cost, and meals on their own. Our esteemed guests are invited to participate in the following programmes:

  1. Lectures: We invite our colleagues from partner universities to present their students experience of different teaching styles, lecturing in English, acquiring new knowledge and experience, and meeting our partner universities. But on the other hand we also would like our partners to experience teaching Czech students in a different background.  Lectures will have the opportunity to meet, discuss, and exchange ideas and best practises with colleagues from other universities.

  1. Workshop I: Discover COIL - Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) is a tool for connecting students and professors in different countries for collaborative projects, that is, for a cooperative learning experience without leaving one’s home countries, but enjoying the benefits of internationalisation. Participants will discover possibilities and examples of COIL, learn how to implement it into university education, discuss and build the foundations of COIL-based cooperation, and will have the opportunity to become a member of the COIL network.

  1. Workshop II: Introduction to BIPs - Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) are short, intensive programmes funded by Erasmus+ that use innovative ways of learning, teaching, and training for students and staff combining the use of online cooperation and short physical mobility, and thus increasing internationalisation. This short intensive introduction will reveal the elements of BIP as well as show real examples of BIPs in which our students and teachers joined and participated.  Recommended for those who are new and curious about these programmes or don’t have enough time to participate in the full BIP that is connected to our IW and runs throughout the week.

  1. Workshop III: R&D meetup - Meet new people and ideas from basic research, applied research, experimental development, or innovative education. Recommended to those who are actively developing grant applications, presenting their ongoing projects, or just looking for networking and international collaboration. This workshop will also include a poster session, group discussions and a good coffee or tea. Stay tuned for updates regarding the schedule, keynote speakers, and more.
