Travel Information

For participants travelling around Ostrava by public transport, we have prepared a guide to make their journey smoother. Below you will find helpful information and recommended routes to VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Economics.

By Public Transport:

Ostrava has a very good infrastructure. There are trams, buses and trolleybuses.

The following stops are important for you:

The ticket costs 32 CZK (approx. 1.30 EUR) and can be purchased directly from the ticket machine at public transport stops (card payment is possible).

We have prepared a simple guide for participants travelling to Ostrava by car, train, bus, or plane to make your journey as smooth as possible. Below you will find useful information and recommended routes to reach the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Economics.

By Car:

You can park on the school premises.

To enter and exit the premises, use the main gate from Dr. Slabihoudka Street (gate no. 1, from the Ostrava University Hospital). Visitors collect a parking ticket from the machine at the entrance and park in any marked parking space on the premises. Before leaving, visitors pay the parking fee at the machine at the exit from the premises (payment only by card or QR code). See map: parking. 

  • First 45 minutes of parking: free
  • Each additional half hour started: 20 CZK
  • Loss of parking ticket: 500 CZK

By Train:

There are two main railway options to reach Ostrava:

ARRIVAL AT OSTRAVA-SVINOV:

  • Distance to the university by public transport: 25 minutes
  • Recommended for those who have secured accommodation in Poruba or in the dormitories.
  • Bus no. 37 runs from the train station (from the stop - Ostrava, Svinov, the train station to the stop - Ostrava, Poruba, Studentská).
  • Trams no. 7, 8, 17 run not far from the train station (from the stop - Svinov, mosty to the stop - VŠB-TUO).
  • The stop is located about 10 minutes from the EKF building.

ARRIVAL AT HLAVNÍ NÁDRAŽÍ OSTRAVA (MAIN STATION):

  • Distance to the university by public transport: 45 minutes
  • Recommended for those who have secured accommodation in the centre of Ostrava.
  • Trams no. 8 run not far from the train station (from the stop - Hlavní nádraží to the stop - VŠB-TUO).
  • The stop is located about 10 minutes from the EKF building.

By Bus:

There is one main bus station option to reach Ostrava:

ARRIVAL AT CENTRAL BUS STATION OSTRAVA (ÚSTŘEDNÍ AUTOBUSOVÉ NÁDRAŽÍ):

  • Distance to the university by public transport: 35 minutes
  • Recommended for those who have secured accommodation in the centre of Ostrava.
  • Bus no. 37 runs not far from the train station (from the stop – Náměstí republiky to the stop - Ostrava, Poruba, Studentská).
  • Tram no. 8 runs not far from the train station (from the stop - Náměstí republiky to the stop - VŠB-TUO).
  • The stop is located about 10 minutes from the EKF building.

By Air:

There is one airport option to reach Ostrava:

ARRIVAL AT LEOŠ JANÁČEK AIRPORT OSTRAVA:
