The Faculty of Economics, VŠB-TU Ostrava is involved in the international University Affiliation Program of the CFA Institute. Part of this program is the master's study field of Finance, which means that the study plans of this field must overlap at least 70 percent with the topics of the CFA program.
The CFA program is one of the most demanding qualifications in finance and the holders of the CFA (Certified Financial Analyst) title have a significant advantage in finding employment with the best companies both in the Czech Republic and abroad. In many countries, the place of brokerage or other professional examinations is also recognized, and its advantage is that CFA examinations are uniform worldwide. The faculty may also award scholarships to six selected students each year for these prestigious exams.

The students of the faculty of Economics participate every year at CFA Institute Research Challenge, which is organized in cooperation with CFA Society Czech Republic. The aim of the competition is to prepare an investment recommendation for a selected company. The competition is conducted in English and so far the greatest success has been the participation of the student team in the European finals in Madrid.
