The Department of Management builds on a long tradition of making management an independent discipline at the Faculty of Economics. It was established in September 1993. It currently provides teaching and research activities in areas related to management, human resources, business ethics, organizational behavior and career development.

The Department of Management has five areas of competence:

  • lectures for bachelor and master degree students,
  • lectures for full-time and combined form of study,
  • doctoral studies,
  • MBA programmes,
  • research and advisory activities.

Pedagogical scope of the department

The department guarantees subjects focused on management and human resources at all of higher education degree levels (bachelor, master, doctoral). In management education, a broad base of knowledge and skills is preferred. The subjects are related to strategic management, production management, crisis management and other management disciplines, such as marketing, law, financial management. Subjects taught by the Department affect all fields of study at the Faculty of Economics VSB-TUO.

Cooperation

The Department of Management cooperates with many important companies and institutions. These are, for example, Liberty Ostrava, Kofola Československo, Basketbalový klub NH Ostrava, Benestante, a.s., Euroguidance, Moravskoslezské drátovny, a.s., ŽDB Group, a.s., Renomia, a.s., Charita Český Těšín, etc. The contact person responsible for cooperation is Ing. The department's partners include foreign higher education institutions, such as Liverpool John Moores University (Great Britain), University of Huddersfield (Great Britain), Hedmark University (Norway), Reykjavik University (Iceland), University of Primorska (Slovenia), etc.
