Members of the department publish in scientific journals and present papers at conferences registered in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The members of the department are also members or leaders of scientific projects of GAČR and SGS and also solve pedagogical projects and projects focused on cooperation with companies.

Cooperation with foreign experts is being developed in science and research, e.g. from the Islamic University of Iran in Iran, the University of Toronto in Canada, the Free University of Bolzen-Bolzano in Italy, La Salle University in the USA, the University of Padderborn in Germany and the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, as part of the joint creation and publication of articles in journals. Specific members of the department also cooperate with the Institute of Information Theory and Automation of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v.v.i. (UTIA).

Assoc. Prof. Miroslav Hudec is an associated editor in the top-tiered scientific journal Applied Soft Computing (Q1; IF=6,725) and in the scientific journal The International Journal of Interactive Multimedia and Artificial Intelligence (Q2; IF=3,137).

Prof. Mehdi Toloo, Ph.D. is a member of the editorial board of the important scientific journal Computers & Industrial Engineering (IF2016 = 2,623).
