The Department of European Integration was established on the 1st April 2004 on the eve of the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union. The Department provides tuition for the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economic Policy and Administration. The role of the Department is to train economists, managers and specialists focusing on issues of European integration and international economic relations; graduates will then apply their qualifications in companies, public institutions and government administration on the regional, national or international level. In addition to the wider economic background, the Department's teaching activities focused on globalization, international trade and, above all, economic integration in a regional, European and global context.
Particular attention is paid to the decisive policies of the EU in economic and social development, the preparation of projects to access structural and investment funds and the practical use of structural funding in public administration and business. Additionally, the Department teaches a range of optional subjects related to national economics, public economics and administration, business and the environment that enabling students to specialize in one particular chosen area. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of language skills; extended language courses are offered and some subjects are taught in English.
The Department maintains and constantly extends and strengthens its links with a range of similar workplaces both in the Czech Republic and abroad, in order to support its teaching and research activities.
