International Scientific Conference 'Economic Policy in the European Union Member Countries' follows the long tradition of the conference 'Economic Policy in Transitive Economies' that has been held under the auspices of the VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Economics, Czech Republic, every two years since 1997. Originally, the conference was aimed on the dissemination of ideas, research and various approaches to the economic policy in transitive economies and the transformation process in general. After the entrance of the Czech Republic into the European Union in May 2004, the conference was first renamed in 2005. The new title 'Economic Policy in the New EU Member Countries' should have reflected the changing focus of the conference.
