How to get to Ostrava
It is possible to arrive in Ostrava by plane, either from Prague or Vienna. Ostrava-Mošnov airport is about 25 km from Ostrava city centre and can be reached by taxi – the fare is around 25 EUR.
There are two ways to get from Prague airport to Prague city centre, to the main railway station “Hlavní nádraží”. If you have to use a taxi, be sure that you have agreed a price at the beginning of the journey (around 20 EUR). Or you can go by bus and use the metro (underground). Bus and metro tickets (24 CZK) are sold at the newsstand in the airport or in the yellow ticket machines at the bus stop. Take bus no. 119 (every 10 minutes from 4.30 to 22.30) for the metro station Dejvická. The journey takes about 25 min. At the Dejvická metro station it is possible to transfer to the underground green line (line A); change at Muzeum station (city centre) to the red line (C) and ride one stop to the Hlavní nádraží station (the main railway station). The train journey from Prague or Vienna to Ostrava takes around 3-4 hours. Ostrava has four railway stations, the best one to use is Ostrava–Svinov station. By car use the highway D1 from Prague to Brno. From Brno use again highway D1 to Olomouc and directly to Ostrava.

If you travel to Ostrava by train, we recommend you to get off at the Ostrava-Svinov railway station (it is indicated by train symbol in the map of Ostrava). From this railway station you can see tram stop called "Nádraží Svinov" (it is indicated by wheel next to the train symbol). From this tram stop it is possible to travel toward to Poruba, where VŠB is located (is it indicated by red place in the map). You can find out the train lines on web pages www.idos.cz. How to find the Faculty of Economics VŠB-TU Ostrava
The Faculty of Economics is situated in the city centre. It is possible to buy MHD (public transport) tickets (for 15 or 45 minutes) almost in arbitrary paper stall.
From the Ostrava-Svinov railway station the Faculty can be reached by tram no. 8 or no.4 heading towards Ostrava city centre (tram stop “Stodolní”).
From the Ostrava-Hlavní nádraží railway station it can be reached by trams no. 1,no.2 and no.8 heading towards Ostrava city centre (tram stop “Stodolní”).

How to find the Campus of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava
You can get to VSB TUO campus from Ostrava-Svinov railway station by tram during 8 minutes (1 ticket for 15 minutes will be enough). You get off at tram stop called "17. listopadu" (it is 5th tram stop from tram stop "Nádraží Svinov"). You can get to the campus of VSB TUO by trams number 7,8 and 17 (the tram must be indicated by direction called "Vřesinská"). Complete traffic order is available here - Public Transport in Ostrava
From the tram stop you will get to the main building entrance. Main building is called Building A. Here you can find a gatehouse and people who will give you an advice how to get to a particular place.
